Maharani Shri Jaya Government Post Graduate College

Maharani Shri Jaya Government Post Graduate College was established by the erstwhile Maharaja of Bharatpur in 1941 as an intermediate college with an objective ‘Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye’ i.e. Education to Liberate. Later it was upgraded to Degree College in 1947 and subsequently to the level of P.G. College in 1977. It also enjoyed the status of an autonomous college from 1987 to 1995. The college, popularly known as M.S.J. College is one of the oldest colleges of  Rajasthan. It is a government institution affiliated to the Maharaja Surajmal Brij University, Bharatpur, (Rajasthan)-321001. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (U.G.C) under 2f and 12 (B) in 1972 and has been receiving grants under various schemes. The college has adequate infrastructure facilities and has adopted satisfactory teaching- learning and evaluation system. It has classrooms, laboratories, central library, computer center, playgrounds etc. Since the college is affiliated to Maharaja Surajmal Brij University, a few teachers of the college are members and conveners of the Board of Studies of their respective departments in the university and hence contribute in the formulation of the syllabi in various subjects. Time tables are prepared at central and then at departmental level by the committees which is communicated to the students in the beginning of session. Teachers prepare the annual teaching plan for effective teaching. Class room teaching is supplemented by ICT. Teaching faculty is using smart class rooms, visual class rooms and interactive methods of learning.

The N.S.S. volunteers and N.C.C. cadets carry out the extension activities. At present there are four units of N.S.S. and two N.C.C. units each i.e. Infantry and Artillery. The broad areas of extension activities are community development, health and hygiene, social work, Blood donation camps, AIDS awareness etc. The college may extend its area-wise out reach programs to give it a larger cover for solving problems of the community on a larger scale. The activities of N.C.C. are quite satisfactory.
