It is a unique tradition in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur to start the fairs with a wrestling match. According to information, this tradition has been going on since the time of kings and emperors. There have been many such famous wrestlers in the district who have been famous not only in the country but also in foreign countries. Every year big riots are organized here, as well as the rural and urban fair starts with wrestling match. Famous wrestlers from different provinces of the country come here to show their tricks and the winner also gets a proper reward. Wrestling riots start here from the festival of Holi, which continues throughout the year.
राजस्थान के भरतपुर में मेलों की शुरुआत कुश्ती दंगल से होना एक अनूठी परंपरा है. जानकारी के मुताबिक राजा महाराजाओं के समय से ही यह परंपरा चली आ रही है. जिले में कई ऐसे नामी पहलवान हुए है जिनकी धाक देश नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी रही है. यहां प्रतिवर्ष बड़े-बड़े दंगलो के अयोजन के साथ-साथ ग्रामीण व शहरी मेले की शुरुआत कुश्ती दंगल (Wrestling Match) से ही होती है. यहां देश के विभिन्न प्रांतो से नामी पहलवान दांव पेंच दिखाने के लिए आते है और जीतने वाले को उचित इनाम भी मिलता है. होली पर्व से यहां कुश्ती दंगलो की शुरुआत हो जाती है जो पूरे वर्ष भर चलती है.

The King Maharaja here was so fond of wrestling that he had got arenas built in his palace and also made proper arrangements for the food and drink of the wrestlers. Kare Pehelwan was that wrestler of Maharaja Brajendra Singh’s own arena, who got the book of Bharat Bhima named after him by pleasing the famous wrestler of Pakistan. Following this tradition, the people of Bharatpur start each fair with a wrestling match. Although there have been more than one famous wrestler in Bharatpur. Those who have shown their strength not only in the country but also in foreign countries.
भरतपुर जिले के प्रत्येक मेले की शुरुआत कुश्ती दंगल से होने की मुख्य वजह यहां के राजा-महाराजाओं को कुश्ती का शौक (Hobby) होना. यहां के राजा महाराजा कुश्ती के इतने बड़े शौकीन थे किउन्होंने अपने महल में अखाड़े (Arena) बनवा रखे थे और पहलवानों के खाने पीने का उचित प्रबंध भी करते थे. कारे पहलवान महाराजा ब्रजेंद्र सिंह के ही अखाड़े का वह पहलवान था जिसने पाकिस्तान के नामी पहलवान को चित्त कर भारत भीम का किताब अपने नाम किया था. भरतपुर के लोग इसी परंपरा का निर्वहन करते हुए प्रत्येक मेले की शुरुआत कुश्ती दंगल से करते है. हालांकि भरतपुर में एक से बढ़कर एक नामी पहलवान भी हुए हैं. जो देश में नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी अपना दमखम दिखा चुके है.
